Summer Time!

I really hate my blog - I wish I could start all over. I can't manage to write the subtitles directly beneath the pictures and I don't know how to make it capable of receiving comments. Curse technology that I don't understand.

Mak has inspired me to update the old bloggy blog. She has only had hers for like a month and she has already done more than I have in the last few years that I've had one (years? I don't know...)

Anyway, I went to Lake Powell earlier this week and it was AWESOME! I got a pretty nice tan and I soaked up being there. I got to skinny dip, slide off the top of the houseboat, jet ski, go tubing, wakeboard, go boogie boarding, kayak, explore random little islands, and just play! As many of you know, I work about sixty hour weeks, so it was incredibly nice and relaxing to just play in the sun for a few days.

I have two stories and then I'll be done.

The first is the one in regards to the pictures that I'll post. My friend McKensey and I decided to barbeque chicken one Sunday afternoon. As we were waiting for it to cook, we were kinda bored and decided to use the lighter to light little pieces of the bush (that was next to the barbeque) on fire. We would get tiny little flames and just blow them out. Well, we once got a flame that was uncomfortably large and I told McKensey that it was too big. She started to blow on it, which just made it bigger. I grabbed a cup and ran to our pool, filling it up. I came back to the bush and poured it on the fire, but it was now too big to be put out by a few ounces of water. I screamed some profanities and ran to my apartment to get more water. I grabbed a pitcher, filled it up, and grabbed a few water bottles and ran back to the scene. McKensey was there, flinging dirt onto the now very-big flame and there were two other people there, pouring water onto the bush. I poured my amount and it finally went out.

By the time we had controlled the situation, everyone was out of the apartments, laughing and clapping and McKensey and my stupidity. After the fact, we could laugh. But it was SCARY when it happened. The lesson here: don't play with fire. Why didn't anyone ever tell me that?

The picture is of me and McKensey reenacting our attempt to put out the flame. That big, black part of the bush is what we charred. :)

I don't have a picture for this next story, but it's a good one to tell anyway. So, I'm at Powell with Chris and his family and a bunch of friends and we are jumping off the top of the houseboat (It's three stories). There is a slide that is attached to the top story and goes down and drops you off about four feet above the water. So, at first we were just doing tricks on the slide. We went down on our bellies and belly-flopped into the water. We twisted going down the slide. We ran and jumped onto the slide, etc. We were having loads of fun!

I honestly can't remember who came up with the idea but we all decided that it would be a blast to pour shampoo and water all over the slide prior to going down. That's not all. We also soaped up our own bodies to make us go down faster. Also, we made the excuse that we hadn't showered so it would be our form of bathing. Surprise! I volunteered to go first. All soaped up and happy, I decided to jump on the bubbly slide. Boom, boom, boom! I bounced three times before flipping at the end of the slide and belly-flopping onto the lake. When I came up out of the water, my leg was in immense pain, but I had so much fun that I didn't care.

It's been a few days and my leg is bruised to say the least. It's swollen and the black and blue bruise looks like I sewed a large softball into my calf. Sweet, I know. I wish I had a better war story...

Well, this blog just defines my stupidity. I do lots of dumb things, but I have fun in the process. Chris always jokes that I'm married to my job but that I flirt with danger. It's true, it's how I live my life. And I'm happy.

I miss everyone but this summer is AWESOME! Oh, also, I sprained the tendon on my right foot while going down the Boomerang at Seven Peaks. Once again, worth it.

Love you all!

I'm ready to go back!

http://jamiesoucy.blogspot.com/2007/06/ode-to-heather.html

It's been almost a year since I left my boys...but come this summer, I am headed back to nanny for them a few days a week. Life will be good again.

Well, I didn't get to go back to my babies. I still get to see them every once in a while, but I've got a new little bugger that I'm watching. His name is Conner and he's sixteen months. He's pretty fun and it's nice having just one kid, so, it's a good summer job!

Yes, I'm a slacker...I know.

I'm not quite an expert at the blogging world yet (as you can tell), so the pictures I'm sure will be scattered from their descriptions...oh well.
As I look for pictures to post, I realize that my life is less than boring. Within the last few weeks, I've attended a few parties, gone camping/fourwheeling with strangers, been to the Festival of Colors, worked 16 hour shifts, been crowdsurfing, rode in the trunk of a car, had sleepovers, and pretty much enjoyed life! Here is the evidence:

Here I am, updating my blog. To all of my readers, which I know is a small number, you are welcome.

Okay...what's new with me? I'm still working at the treatment center, which I either love or hate, depending on the day. School lets out in about two weeks, and I will take a break for Spring/Summer and continue to stay in Provo and work. I will, however, make the trip back to the big OR just to see my little sister graduate. I still can't believe she's that old!

I love my apartment, I live across the street from Gold's Gym on 9th East and so I'll keep living there until Fall, in which case I might move - not sure yet. I will FINALLY be graduating in April, though if I worked hard I could do it in December, but, what's the rush? I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing after I graduate and I have to start paying back loans once I'm not enrolled anymore...so I'll just drag it out a bit. I'm thinking that I'm going to go somewhere and do something, most likely outside of the States. Trust me, I love America, but once you see third-world poverty, you can't not go back and contribute somehow.

If you have any good ideas, I'm all ears. Until then, I'm just going to keep on thinking that I will somehow find a way to leave this world a little better than I found it. Wish me luck! Slash, I encourage you all to do the same.

I think that might be all that I have for you guys...sorry and hopefully I won't take so long to update next time! Peace.
