Summer Time!

I really hate my blog - I wish I could start all over. I can't manage to write the subtitles directly beneath the pictures and I don't know how to make it capable of receiving comments. Curse technology that I don't understand.

Mak has inspired me to update the old bloggy blog. She has only had hers for like a month and she has already done more than I have in the last few years that I've had one (years? I don't know...)

Anyway, I went to Lake Powell earlier this week and it was AWESOME! I got a pretty nice tan and I soaked up being there. I got to skinny dip, slide off the top of the houseboat, jet ski, go tubing, wakeboard, go boogie boarding, kayak, explore random little islands, and just play! As many of you know, I work about sixty hour weeks, so it was incredibly nice and relaxing to just play in the sun for a few days.

I have two stories and then I'll be done.

The first is the one in regards to the pictures that I'll post. My friend McKensey and I decided to barbeque chicken one Sunday afternoon. As we were waiting for it to cook, we were kinda bored and decided to use the lighter to light little pieces of the bush (that was next to the barbeque) on fire. We would get tiny little flames and just blow them out. Well, we once got a flame that was uncomfortably large and I told McKensey that it was too big. She started to blow on it, which just made it bigger. I grabbed a cup and ran to our pool, filling it up. I came back to the bush and poured it on the fire, but it was now too big to be put out by a few ounces of water. I screamed some profanities and ran to my apartment to get more water. I grabbed a pitcher, filled it up, and grabbed a few water bottles and ran back to the scene. McKensey was there, flinging dirt onto the now very-big flame and there were two other people there, pouring water onto the bush. I poured my amount and it finally went out.

By the time we had controlled the situation, everyone was out of the apartments, laughing and clapping and McKensey and my stupidity. After the fact, we could laugh. But it was SCARY when it happened. The lesson here: don't play with fire. Why didn't anyone ever tell me that?

The picture is of me and McKensey reenacting our attempt to put out the flame. That big, black part of the bush is what we charred. :)

I don't have a picture for this next story, but it's a good one to tell anyway. So, I'm at Powell with Chris and his family and a bunch of friends and we are jumping off the top of the houseboat (It's three stories). There is a slide that is attached to the top story and goes down and drops you off about four feet above the water. So, at first we were just doing tricks on the slide. We went down on our bellies and belly-flopped into the water. We twisted going down the slide. We ran and jumped onto the slide, etc. We were having loads of fun!

I honestly can't remember who came up with the idea but we all decided that it would be a blast to pour shampoo and water all over the slide prior to going down. That's not all. We also soaped up our own bodies to make us go down faster. Also, we made the excuse that we hadn't showered so it would be our form of bathing. Surprise! I volunteered to go first. All soaped up and happy, I decided to jump on the bubbly slide. Boom, boom, boom! I bounced three times before flipping at the end of the slide and belly-flopping onto the lake. When I came up out of the water, my leg was in immense pain, but I had so much fun that I didn't care.

It's been a few days and my leg is bruised to say the least. It's swollen and the black and blue bruise looks like I sewed a large softball into my calf. Sweet, I know. I wish I had a better war story...

Well, this blog just defines my stupidity. I do lots of dumb things, but I have fun in the process. Chris always jokes that I'm married to my job but that I flirt with danger. It's true, it's how I live my life. And I'm happy.

I miss everyone but this summer is AWESOME! Oh, also, I sprained the tendon on my right foot while going down the Boomerang at Seven Peaks. Once again, worth it.

Love you all!

I'm ready to go back!

http://jamiesoucy.blogspot.com/2007/06/ode-to-heather.html

It's been almost a year since I left my boys...but come this summer, I am headed back to nanny for them a few days a week. Life will be good again.

Well, I didn't get to go back to my babies. I still get to see them every once in a while, but I've got a new little bugger that I'm watching. His name is Conner and he's sixteen months. He's pretty fun and it's nice having just one kid, so, it's a good summer job!

Yes, I'm a slacker...I know.

I'm not quite an expert at the blogging world yet (as you can tell), so the pictures I'm sure will be scattered from their descriptions...oh well.
As I look for pictures to post, I realize that my life is less than boring. Within the last few weeks, I've attended a few parties, gone camping/fourwheeling with strangers, been to the Festival of Colors, worked 16 hour shifts, been crowdsurfing, rode in the trunk of a car, had sleepovers, and pretty much enjoyed life! Here is the evidence:

Here I am, updating my blog. To all of my readers, which I know is a small number, you are welcome.

Okay...what's new with me? I'm still working at the treatment center, which I either love or hate, depending on the day. School lets out in about two weeks, and I will take a break for Spring/Summer and continue to stay in Provo and work. I will, however, make the trip back to the big OR just to see my little sister graduate. I still can't believe she's that old!

I love my apartment, I live across the street from Gold's Gym on 9th East and so I'll keep living there until Fall, in which case I might move - not sure yet. I will FINALLY be graduating in April, though if I worked hard I could do it in December, but, what's the rush? I'm not exactly sure what I'll be doing after I graduate and I have to start paying back loans once I'm not enrolled anymore...so I'll just drag it out a bit. I'm thinking that I'm going to go somewhere and do something, most likely outside of the States. Trust me, I love America, but once you see third-world poverty, you can't not go back and contribute somehow.

If you have any good ideas, I'm all ears. Until then, I'm just going to keep on thinking that I will somehow find a way to leave this world a little better than I found it. Wish me luck! Slash, I encourage you all to do the same.

I think that might be all that I have for you guys...sorry and hopefully I won't take so long to update next time! Peace.

It's the Holiday Season....ALREADY!

The many advantages of living in Utah: lots of snow, surrounded my good people and a good environment, a relatively inexpensive school...also, the plethora of Mormon actors!
We were at the Utah State Fair (mainly to see SheDAISY) and my roommate Miley about flipped when she saw this kid. Apparently he's in a lot of the Mormon movies. You see her face? She's the one in the hat. She is totally ecstatic about this!
She's never been to Utah before, so seeing the prophet and apostles and famous Mormon actors and below zero weather...it's all new to her.

I know I said I wouldn't post it last time, but I just love it so! For whatever reason, I bought this hair dye (it's very temporary, there is currently no residue of it in my hair Ash) and decided to play around with it. This is one time when I just did the tips of my hair. I also did streaks throughout my whole head and my favorite use for the dye...writing in what looked like blood on the bathroom mirror, which totally freaked my roommate out. Hahaha

This is me being a porclein doll for Halloween. My friend Matt and I did our best "doll poses" while at the ward party, getting our bowling abilities on. I lost.

Okay, so we did a scavenger hunt a few weeks ago and one of the things we had to get was a picture with a tall person. 6'7''. Megan and I are obviously no taller than 5'3''.

Well, school will be out in a mere matter of weeks, which enthralls me and scares the h out of me at the same time. I'll be excited when I no longer have to concern myself with statistics and geography, but that also means that these last few weeks are my last chance to raise my grade in those classes - wish me luck!
I had to stay here for Thanksgiving, which was sad because my family in Oregon basically had a party without me...but family here is pretty amazing too! I'm just grateful that I have family in both places...some people honestly don't have any family or anywhere to go.
Yesterday at work, in group therapy (that's right, I get paid an hourly wage to attend and participate in group therapy), we were discussing our blessings and things we're grateful for. My poor little girls couldn't come up with very much, but when it was my turn, I felt like I had a laundry list of blessings I've been given. For example, I'm very poor. However, no matter how poor I get and how many obstacles that present themselves to me, it always gets taken care of. That's a major blessing, for which I'm incredible thankful. Anyway, that's pretty much the update of my life. Just work, school, and keeping busy.

For those of you who haven't seen me in a while and don't have facebook :), I'll put up a few pictures.
Okay, for the one that decided to post itself up there instead of where I wanted it - that's right, I went to ANOTHER Jo Dee Messina concert. The first one without my mom. :( But my sixth time seeing her, and I'm planning on another one in January. I'm such a roadie.

Dag nabbit! I can never get the dang pictures where I want them! Maybe I should take a computer class next semester..

Fall of 2007

I really never update this thing, do I? I'm doing it now because Dina Jones told me that she would never speak to me again if I didn't update it...okay Dina, I'm doing it!!! :)
Gosh, I really never know where to start - since obviously so much has happened since March. The family that I nannied for decided that they no longer needed me, so I went home for the summer to be with the fam. I worked at Red Robin with my big sister while I was there, so that was fun!
However, I had to come back to school, which I was sad to do. That was a few months ago and now I'm perfectly content being back in Provo, which is starting to feel like home. I now live in a very ghetto apartment with roommates that I just adore! And if I ever thought I was having a crazy life before, now I am busy, busy, busy! I go to school full-time, obviously, and have just gotten a job at a treatment center for girls, which will be at least 24 hours a week. I think I'm really going to like this job - it's like being a counselor at Girls Camp and having the worst girls...but you still love them, you just have to make sure that they're not killing each other or doing anything crazy bad.
The cold is coming. Curse you, Jack Frost, you know how I feel about the cold season!
Tonight is my ward's Halloween party and I'm going as a porcelain doll and I get to wear FAKE LASHES! Yay! My roommate is going as Snow White, who she truly looks like.
Um...um....I'm sitting here in my criminology class, bored. He's talking about variables and frequency...it's so boring, he's lucky that we get to go to court and visit jails and all that jazz, otherwise, this class would so not be worth it. But doing all of that stuff is so much fun and so interesting! I wonder what I'm going to grow up to be/do.
I'd post my most recent endeavor with my hair, but my mom would kill me.

Also, I went to the Middle East and it was fantastic. I'm headed to China in May.

Balloons

Mom, Jack, Kenzie, Owen, Kara and myself. We all went to Idaho this past weekend to attend Jack and Owen's birthday party (they turned two) and decided to take pictures on the floor of the guest room. yep.

That's Mak. That's a cute face, Kenz. :)

This is me and my momma is Idaho this past weekend!

Gramma Ned and Owen. He's camera-shy :)

Well, kids can be so much fun. Sorry for those of you who want to read about my life - this is pretty much it. Calvin makes me laugh so hard! So, here's the deal with the pictures, Martin turned one and the party was just this past weekend...so there are still balloons floating around the house. Cal decided to shove a balloon up his shirt and pretend that he was having a baby. He insisted that I participate, and then we made Martin do it...he didn't like it very much. However, this was the result.

Also, today, Cal said to me "I don't need to take a bath today, I just took one yestermorning."
The other thing that he said that made me laugh...well, here's the story.
We were watching CMT (okay, I was watching it..) and a Martina McBride video came on. I said to Cal, "Look at her, she's beautiful".
Cal responded, "She's not beautiful!"
But she hadn't even come on the screen yet, so I argued that he hadn't seen her yet and couldn't tell if whether or not she was beautiful. When she finally did come on I said "See, Cal. Isn't she beautiful?"
Cal just stared at the TV in awe and whispered "She IS beautiful...her has lots of hair".
I seriously couldn't stop laughing, he stared at her for the rest of the video and just kept talking about her hair, and how much she had. :)

Anyway, life is good. I'm making caramel popcorn tonight and the sun is out and about. Now I remember why it is that I love Utah...the heavy snow and below zero temperatures almost made me forget.

I'm still alive...

They just love their dinosaur museum! If Cal got to choose, he would go there every day! We go at least once a week, and every time is like the first time when he sees the same statues, exhibits and activites. And just like Lyzie, Cal couldn't care less where I am. Martin freaks out if I leave the room. When it's time to leave the dinosaur museum, after telling him several times that I'm serious, that we're really leaving...I say "Okay, bye Cal. Me and Martin are going home. Have fun here by yourself. See you later!". He usually responds by telling me "bye" and continuing to do his thing. Even when I fake leave him, he just doesn't care. I usually drag him out, kicking and screaming. He's just so sweet. :)

This is the boys in the bathtub...I'm so grateful for that little chair that Martin can sit in, that way he gets to take a bath with his big brother! They pretty much love their baths! If Martin hears the water running, he'll come booking it into the bathroom and leans over the tub, ready to get in, even if he's completely dressed. And then, if I unzip his jammies, he'll work real hard to get them off of his feet so he can get in. Cal loves them mainly so he can pour water on his brother's head, and its an excuse to put his toys in water. But man does that kid hate his hair being washed!

When I'm washing them, I always sing "Wash your arm, wash your arm! Keep it shiny! Wash your arm, wash your arm! Squeaky clean!". Cal loves that song, I sometimes hear him singing it just to himself. I love that part of my childhood can be incorporated into theirs.

Well, I know that it's been a while and seeing that Ash updated her blog made me want to do mine - though I'm pretty confident that no one ever looks at this.
The semester is half-way through and has probably flown by faster than any semester I've had yet so far. Scary thought, after April I will officially be a senior in college and could graduate as early as this December if I tried. Don't worry, I won't try. I'm staying here for as long as it takes to find a damn husband. I'm only half-kidding about that.
In regards to school, I still have no idea what I'm going to do. I'll graduate in Sociology and hopefully, ideally, I'd like to get a Master's in Social Work. All I know is that I want to make a difference, I want to change something. I don't know if Social Work is the way to go, but it's the closest thing I've found thus far. Lately I've been toying with the idea of going into the Peace Corps, or anything that could help those who need it.
Anyway, work is good. My baby is officially one and no longer a baby. He takes steps and is the fastest crawler I've ever seen! It feels like just yesterday I could sit him on the couch and my only concern was if Cal would pull him down. Now I find him with dog food, bits of sponges, bugs, plastic, small toys, and anything else he can find in his mouth. He also loves the toilet, so I spend half my day making sure that the bathroom doors are shut and that I can hear the pitter patter of his hands and feet...which is good because that means that he's not crawling up the stairs. Every morning when he sees me he looks excited, and every morning I'm more excited to see him than he is to see me!
Cal is almost four and has started speech therapy again. He is just so funny! There are some days where I really think that I will never have children of my own because of him, and there are other days when I get tears in my eyes because I can't believe I can have so much love for just one little person. But I do love them both, the beginnnig of June marks my one year with them and the parents hope I'll be staying for another year. I guess it depends where they decide to take me. :) This year, in just a few weeks, we're headed to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan. I think that later in the year, we'll be doing a cruise somewhere, but I'm not quite sure yet.
It's becoming summer time again, and I just love it! I definetly am not ready to jump into bathing suit season, but the ability to lie on the grass on campus and leave for school in a t-shirt and flip flops is the best part of the season.
In regards to my personal life, I'm not really apt to posting that online, so if you wanna know - just contact me...or any member of my family for that matter, since they're usually pretty updated.
Happy warm season to all and I'll hopefully being seeing you soon!
